Our research is patient orientated. We are committed to research of paediatric eye diseases at the highest standard and using state-of-the-art technologies. We conduct clinical research, laboratory based basic research and community research.

Retinoblastoma:

Clinical service for the whole of Hong Kong at Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH) headed by Prof Jason Yam. We have an RB cohort of all patients from the past 20 years with DNA, blood, tumour and primary cultured cell samples.

Paediatric glaucoma:

Establishment of clinical services and research with Hospital Authority (HA) colleagues at HKCH.

Childhood myopia:

Investigation and studies on high, extreme and pathological myopia.

Paediatric diabetic retinopathy:

Currently 600 diabetes cases at HKCH are followed-up once a year for fundus, optical coherence tomography (OCT), optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and refraction.

Inherited retina diseases:

Establish retinitis pigmentosa screening and genetic tests for other inherited retina diseases at HKCH.
