Undergraduate Training Programme

To help students explore their interests and develop new skills during their semester break and long summer vacation, HOPE offers different internship opportunities for pre-clinical medical students in their second year of studies and undergraduate students in the biomedical sciences related subjects in their second to final years of study. These opportunities are usually research-orientated laboratory-based activities in the research floors of the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital. These activities that last for 6-8 weeks aim to enrich students’ experiential learning.

Global Physician-Leadership Stream (GPS) Project

As one of the youngest institutions among the world’s top medical schools, CU Medicine prides itself on being innovative and forward-looking. Established in 2013, Global Physician-Leadership Stream (GPS) is a Faculty flagship programme, which aims to offer additional learning opportunities to students with strong academic ability and interests in pursuing additional training in medical leadership in research, clinical service, healthcare administration and medical education.

GPS Project is one of the key components in GPS. GPS students are required to set up a project at the beginning of Year 3 and given a period of maximum 3 years (Years 3-5) to complete the project under the supervision of a Project Mentor. The nature of project can vary from research (e.g. basic, translational, clinical, public health), medical health promotion, medical humanitarian or social service projects, to healthcare administration or entrepreneurship, to medical education. They can submit an individual work or form a group at a maximum of 3 students to complete a joint project.

Details of this program can be referred to the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK.
